This year’s Teen Choice Awards function was a blast; having so many celebrities on one stage was just amazing. The 17th version of this ceremony saw the famous TV series ‘Empire’ seizing a lot of the spotlight and paid homage to the late superstar from ‘Furious 7’, Paul Walker. Most noticeably, they honored Britney Spears once again!

The award giving ceremony started off with applauding for the hit film ‘Straight Outta Compton’. The function was held in the Los Angeles’ Galen Tower this Sunday for about two hours. The celebrities from N. W. A. biopic and Ice Cube greeted the teenage crowd with their performances.

This year’s ceremony was hosted by Gina Rodriguez from ‘Jane the Virgin’, Josh Peck and well-known rapper-cum-actor Christopher ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, who has been with the Furious franchise from the very beginning of its hit movie series. Ludacris’ box-office hit ‘Furious 7’ was a topper in the ceremony, claiming the best action film’s award along with achieving best actor award in the action-adventure category which had gone to everyone’s beloved Paul Walker.

Vin Diesel, one of the major characters of ‘Furious 7’ was also present at the ceremony. He gave an emotional speech remembering his best buddy Paul Walker, who had left this world recently. He said that Paul would always be with him, and in fact, he was present at the ceremony in a spiritual way. Diesel also clapped for the special kid who was in the midst of the crowd, Meadow- daughter of late Walker.

The awards were given in a wide range of categories; from movies to sports! This function usually gives awards based on the opinion of the people who select the winners of each category.

Britney Spears received awards for being the most popular style icon. Her name comes to the winning list very often; in fact, she is a regular winner of Teen Choice Awards. She dedicated the winning to her two sons, and lovely niece. She had bagged the lifetime-achievement honor back in 2009.

The famous British band, One Direction, took eight awards, which increased their tally to 23. The Breakout TV show award had gone to ‘Empire’. Ellen DeGeneres bagged the best comedian award.
