Ramadan in Brief

Ramadan

The Holy month of Ramadan has begun. The Muslims from all over the world will follow every ritual of this sacred month as today’s dawn declared the beginning of the blessed month. This is a month of fasting and prayer to show their gratitude to the Almighty Allah. This month gives a chance to purify the impure souls and get mercy from Allah. The Muslims consider it as the greatest reward from the Almighty.

Ramadan is known for the As-Siyam or fasting ritual that every Muslim goes through during the daylight. The fasting means every Muslim must have to refrain from eating or drinking from dusk to dawn. This ritual shows ultimate obedience to Allah. In this divine month, the Holy Quran came down from the highest heaven to the lowest and stored there to finally be revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (Sm). During this month all the gates of the heaven remain open and the gates of hell remain shut.

The devils remain shackled in this month, thus gives the Muslims an opportunity to stay away from the evil deeds. The Prophet informed, “The person, who gives food to a fasting person to break his fast, will receive the same amount of reward as the fasting person and not a single reward will lessen from the fasting person’s payment.” (Tirmidhi) Ramadan is a month to ask forgiveness of Allah. The merciful Almighty can’t ignore the humble appeal of His pupils. The Prophet Mohammad (Sm) said, “The plea of a fasting pupil will not be declined.” (Bayhaqi)

This blessed month teaches people to be compassionate to each other. During month the Muslims become more sympathetic to others, and they become concerned about the well-being of their fellow companions. While fasting, no one can commit any sin, including falsehood, deceitfulness, using slang words and insulting any person behind his back. These are highly prohibited in this month. The Eid-Al-Fitr comes when the new moon of Shawwal month seen in the west sky. The first day of Shawwal is celebrated as the festivity of breaking fast after the end of the Holy month Ramadan.
