The decision has been made that the UFC superstar Ronda Rousey will face Holly Holm in a duel on 2 January 2016. The UFC title holder Rousey announced that the UFC authority had chosen Holly Holm over Miesha Tate to compete against her. She will have her seventh fight to defend her UFC title.
Ronda Rousey knocked out Bethe Correia in just 34 seconds to retain her UFC title. She is a gifted fighter who likes to throw punch after punch to her opponents. She is still an undefeated champion who is thought to be destined to create history. But, her biggest challenge will be Holly Holm, who is also an undefeated MMA pugilist.
The ‘Rowdy’ Rousey admitted that Holm would be the greatest challenge in her career. She said that Holm had been pretty good with her impressive striking ability, which she herself had lacked in the beginning of her career.
Holly Holm has several welterweight championships in her bag. She is a pro-boxer and had started to compete in the MMA since 2011. She also holds an undefeated record which is 9-0 so far.
Holm’s two victories in the UFC came in this year when she defeated Raquel Pennington and Marion Reneau respectively. She is now holding the number 9 position in the UFC bantamweight category. But, she must have to know that Rousey has already defeated six of them out of the best eight.
Holm needed 15 minutes to defeat her last two opponents, while Rousey needed only 64 seconds to defeat her last three opponents. Rousey seems to have a tendency to finish fights within a minute or so as in the last fight against Bethe Correia, she just rattled the Brazilian in 34 seconds.
As a pro-fighter with vast training in judo and wrestling, Rousey will have the upper hand in the fight that’s for sure. In fact, Holm might face a similar result like her predecessors who were thrashed by the ‘Rowdy’ Rousey.
